The great awakening
Most people agree that spring is the best season for a love affair —for of course, we all know that most romances will be dashed to hell by autumn, all those lonely nights. But spring is the time for love. Insects awakening as peacocks desperate with longing keep us up at night screeching in the palm trees. But as a friend says, spring is all about the dandelions.
Dandelions––bright now––are roadside gold, fallen stars of the football field, bane of lawn perfectionists, bee-feeders, spirit-lifters, time-keepers, says Robert Macfarlane..
Just ask Botticelli. In his Primavera. Love is center stage as the goddesses dance barefoot in grass strewn with clover and dandelions.
